Our Staff
Our leadership team recognizes the authority of God, and realizes that we are shepherds who serve under the Chief Shepherd, Jesus Christ. We desire to devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the Word. Our passion and goal is to equip the believers for the work of the ministry until we all attain maturity in the fullness of Christ.
Pastor Jack Herman, Senior Pastor
Pastor Jack has been our Senior Pastor since the summer of 2002. He has a Bachelors degree in Bible and Aviation Technology from LeTourneau University, a Master of Arts degree in Missions from Columbia International University, and is currently working a doctoral degree. Pastor Jack began full-time pastoral ministry at the age of 27 in Cleveland, Ohio in 1983. He served as the Pastor of Discipleship, Youth and Small groups at Grace Church of the C&MA, a church of 700 people at that time. Pastor Jack then served in church planting and teaching ministries in the Philippines as a missionary with the Alliance for 16 years before coming to Cherry Tree. He loves to study the Word of God and proclaim its truths for the building up of Christ’s church. He is grateful to God for a wonderful team of staff and leaders at Cherry Tree who are together seeking to follow Christ. Pastor Herman and his wife, Joy, are deeply in love with each other and the six children God has blessed them with. Pastor Jack enjoys spending time with family, fellowshipping with other believers, developing friendships with those who do not yet believe in Christ, reading, and watching and playing a variety of sports.
John Herman, Children & Youth Pastor
John Herman serves as the Pastor of Children and Youth at Cherry Tree Alliance Church. He spent the first 16 years of his life as a missionary kid in the Philippines. Upon returning to the United States, he graduated from Laurel Highlands High School, and then went on to pursue a degree at Toccoa Falls College, which is located in Toccoa, Georgia. In 2008, John graduated from TFC with a bachelor’s degree in Youth Ministry. Since graduating, John has worked with youth full-time.
It is his heart’s desire to see young people commit their lives to Jesus Christ and walk in His ways.
John married his wonderful wife, Bethany, in 2007. They have two young children together; Liam and Kinley. In his spare time, John enjoys watching Manchester United, the Steelers and Penguins, playing sports, and reading.
Travis Deans, Youth and Adult Discipleship Pastor
Pastor Travis has served part-time on Cherry Tree’s staff since 2004. He holds a Bachelors Degree in Youth Ministry from Moody Bible Institute and also serves full-time with Teens for Christ ministries. He and his beautiful wife Judy were married in November 2004 and welcomed their daughter, Evangelina, to their family in May 2010. His role at Cherry Tree is exciting for him because he loves helping people go deeper in their relationship with God. In Pastor Travis’ free time, he enjoys reading, watching movies, hiking, camping, fencing, biking, and concerts. Some favorite Cherry Tree memories for Travis include going to Creation, men’s retreats, and concerts.
John Donato, Worship Director
The Bible has a lot to say about music, and John’s role is to lead the church’s worship of God in a way that matches the character of God.
Andrea Lough, Administrative Assistant
Andrea Lough graduated from Laurel Business Institute in 2010 with an Associate Degree in Office Administration. She began working full-time at Cherry Tree Alliance Church in 2012. Andrea is very excited to be employed at the church and is looking forward to a future of following God’s leading in her career and other areas of her life. Andrea enjoys theater, singing, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
